Barbed wire fence removal project

Expressions of interest are being sought by Muckleford Catchment Landcare Group for anyone who wants to remove their external barbed wire fences.

Barbed wire fencing is dangerous for native fauna. Although we don’t have funding to replace the barbed wire with more wildlife friendly fencing, we can help you take down your old fences, especially for those landholders who don’t have stock.

Muckleford Landcare Feb Committee Meeting Minutes

Here are the minutes from the Committee’s recent meeting. As mentioned in the minutes, on Sunday, Dave, Chris, Nev and Beth did a walk on Bassett Creek to ground-truth our upcoming project. We will now start talking to landholders about restoration activities on the Stage 2 section of the creek, as supported by the North Central CMA. Stay tuned for more news on this project, as well as the timetable for our upcoming community education events.  MCLG minutes Feb 2018

Bassett Creek Restoration

Dave, Nev and Beth did some evaluation on the work of the Landmate crew, who took out some weeds along Bassett Creek as part of our NCCMA Bassett Creek Restoration Project – Stage 1. They did a pretty damn good job, covering about 1km.

Muckleford Landcare Knows How to Plant a Tree!!

Here are some photos of a planting that was done on the Chinaman Creek project just two years ago. Dave and Beth and Nev and Theo went out on Sunday to remove some tree guards and were all amazed at the forest before us.

We will have another session to remove the guards in about a month so stay tuned for the date to be sent out. It’s a great activity to bring your kids to, as they really help us along. We are about one third of the way through guard removal, so will hopefully see you at the next removal day.

Activity this Sunday

Join us to remove guards from our last planting – this Sunday 25th June 2017, 10am. We will be at 69 Creaseys Road if you want to get out and about on a chilly morning with Landcare, or if you planted on that day in the Chinaman’s Creek project and want to see how the trees are doing. We are looking for somewhere to store the tree guards until our next planting, so let me know if you have space in a shed. Beth 0431219980
