We are hoping to work with Connecting Country to submit an application for funding through Round 3 of the 20 Million Trees Program. The project would include plants, guards, site prep and works crew.
We need one or two landholders who have enough land to plant at least 1,000 trees. Please let me know if you are interested by Monday. bethmellick@gmail.com
We had 22 people at our dam workshop. Many thanks to David Griffith, Landcare member, who came and spoke about dams in our landscapes and on our properties.
Join us at 69 Creaseys Road to remove the rest of the tree guards from our last planting. 10am start, and hopefully we’ll get them all removed in time to get home for lunch!
Please note that participants for the Dams to Wetlands Workshop this Sunday 23rd July, 9.30am, can meet at the end of Lyndham Road, Muckleford. We will be planting, and talking, and walking, so dress appropriately…
Join Muckleford Landcare when we visit two dams and discuss ways in which to improve their function for biodiversity, learning how to turn your property’s dam into a thriving wetland.

Maldon area; fire, ecology, people – can they all co-exist?
Muckleford Forest Friends Groupis hosting a conference calledUnderstanding Fire in our Landscape: A Community Conversation on 12-13 November 2016, in Newstead.
The Community Conversation is about fire in the Newstead-Maldon landscape: the history of fire, local ecology, fire risk and community-based approaches to better landscape planning and management to protect what we value.
During the weekend there will be talks, displays, biodiversity walks, visits to the sites of past fires, and a chance to record your memories of local fires. Supported by community and external experts, the weekend will be a chance to learn about more and share ideas across our local communities.
Terrific day down at the Muckleford train station for Mucklefest this year. We talked to 5 or 6 potential new Landcare members, as well as handed out a lot of information and guides. We still have a few Native Newstead plants left over, so let me know if any members would like some: sticky everylastings, grey everlastings, clustered everlastings, rock corea, austral storks bill, poa, spear grass, lemon beauty heads, matted bush pea. Text Beth on 0431 219 980 and you can pick them up from me either in town or at home.
Thanks to the NCCMA and Connecting Country for funding for the plants.
Mucklefest – the festival of Muckleford – is on this Sunday 23rd October 2016, 10am – 1pm at the Muckleford Railway Station. Muckleford residents and Landcare members can come and pick up some free plants that we’re giving away as part of our community education program, funded by the NCCMA.
